And that's it. Well almost, there is one other setting you should check. Go to Tools > Accounts > Mail and highlight the mail account you have just set up by clicking on it once. Click on the 'Properties' button and then the 'Advanced' tab. Make sure the 'Leave a copy of messages on server' option is un-ticked. If you leave the mail on the server your space allocation will fill up with old messages and, once full, any new messages will be returned to the sender. IMPORTANT: Please note: Before you can send e-mail via your account the mail server needs proof of your identity. It does this by asking for your username and password when you try and collect your mail. Without these checks, spammers would be able to send e-mail via your mail server, which could result in your account getting banned. Unfortunately, if you have mail queued ready to send when you connect to your account, Outlook will try and send it first without waiting for permission from the server which may result in an authentication error. This is a feature of Outlook, there is nothing wrong with your account set-up or mail server. If you check for any incoming mail first and your username and password details are correct you will then be able to send your messages. ** Remember ** |
